Abstract
Starting from the broad discussion regarding the traditional landmarks for the beginning of modernity and the distinction between so-called ‘historical modernity’ and ‘philosophical modernity’, traditionally characterised by Eurocentrism, this presentation proposes, as a hypothesis, a historical-philosophical-geographical landmark for the onset of modernity, based on Enrique Dussel’s critique of modernity within his Philosophy of Liberation and on Milton Santos’s ontology of space.
